The 2026 Chinese Grand Prix Recap
The 2026 Chinese Grand Prix delivered yet another dramatic race, highlighted by a breakthrough victory for Kimi Antonelli. The Mercedes driver, Antonelli secured his first Formula One win and became the second youngest race winner in the sport’s history, finishing ahead of teammate George Russell to seal a dominant Mercedes 1–2 finish. Lewis Hamilton finished third to claim his first podium in a full length race with Scuderia Ferrari, marking an important milestone with the team. Oliver Bearman also impressed with a strong fifth-place finish for Haas F1 Team. The race proved disappointing for the reigning champions McLaren, as both drivers failed to start due to technical problems, leaving Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri with yet another frustrating result. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen retired from the race with 10 laps remaining after running in sixth place, adding further drama to an eventful Grand Prix. Altogether, the race underlined a competitive start to the season with Mercedes emerging as a serious force and new talent making its mark on the sport. As the second-round passes, momentum appears to be building for Antonelli, while established names and teams will be looking to respond after a weekend full of surprises and setbacks.
